Requesting and ordering digital images

The reproduction and use of digital images is only possible by obtaining the prior consent of the Musée Ariana.
All requests must be sent by email to ariana(at)ville-ge.ch with 'Photothèque du Musée Ariana' in the subject line.

If, at the time of the request, the object has not yet been photographed, the estimated time frame is two months from the date of the order. The cost of the new shot is then billed to the requester for a fixed charge in addition to the fee for reproduction rights.

Conditions

Identifying copyright holders, as well as the related fees, is not the responsibility of the Musée Ariana’s photo library but rather of the requester.

Any modifications to the photographic reproduction issued by the Musée Ariana, such as cropping, detailing, pastiche or others, requires special authorisation by the museum.

Terms of use

Once this agreement has been obtained, any use of a reproduction must bear the obligatory wording as indicated together with the digital image.

The photographic documents may not be reused for any purpose other than that mentioned in relation to the order. Any other use requires a new order or written authorisation by the Musée Ariana.

A copy of the publication in which the reproduced image appears must be sent upon release, as proof, for the attention of the photo library of the Musée Ariana.

Prices

Depending on the nature of the order, the museum issues a quote. The photographic document is only sent after the quote has been duly accepted by the requester. Once the quote has been accepted and the document has been sent, the sale price remains payable even if the document has not been used.

As part of the promotion of its permanent collections and temporary exhibitions, the Musée Ariana’s press department makes visuals available free of charge for various media outlets.
In the case of partnerships, the partner can send a request for a price reduction or the right to use the material free of charge, with an explanation of the grounds for this request, to the management of the Musée Ariana, who will decide on any fee waiver for reproduction rights.
Only the management of the Musée Ariana is authorised to grant the right to use material free of charge.

The reproduction rights are free of charge for all publications stemming from the services of the City of Geneva, for the newsletter or website of the Association des Amis du Musée Ariana, as well as for publications of Genevan learned societies and of the Department of Public Teaching (Republic and Canton of Geneva).
